Project Engineer - Rubber

Description/Duties:
1. Leads a cross functional team in the timely and successful development of customer programs from conception to production. Includes management of project timelines, project budget and status reporting accomplished by monitoring progress on assigned molds, coordinating design reviews and mold sampling, and reviewing inspection activities and documentation.

2. Provides value-added engineering support to internal and external customers as required.

3. Supports development of quality and manufacturing plans, including control plans, First Article reports, capability studies, FMEA documents and operator work instructions.

4. Participates in the estimating function for new tooling and revisions (to include part pricing, material selection, lead times, and some tooling components).

5. Works in cross-functional areas to provide support as necessary.

6. Evaluates the need and justifies the purchase of auxiliary equipment/services.

7. Complies with all policies, procedures and work instructions relative to the Quality requirements that pertain to this position.

8. Performs other duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.

Effectively communicates and demonstrates teamwork skills with all levels of the organization. Interfaces professionally and negotiates effectively with vendors, industry consultants and technical resources.

Dimensions of Position:
Works independently and is authorized to make decisions necessary to carry out assigned responsibilities, within cost and project guidelines and consistent with company policies and philosophy.


Background/Experience Preferred:
Education: College Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.

Experience:Eng I,0-1, Eng II,1-3, Eng III,3-6 years minimum in Manufacturing or Engineering environment. The above accountabilities will expand in individual responsibility and proficiency through the the first three job grades. Senior (6+ years minimum) and Chief (12+ years minimum) Classifications may have additional accountabilities, separate position descriptions and require above standard performance, additional tenure and experience.

Excellent communication skills required, with demonstrated success in handling complex problems and projects. Plastics or Rubber experience preferred. Experience with computer-controlled machine tools, high-volume automated production equipment, related manufacturing and engineering software programs and advanced quality planning is highly desirable.
