Description/Duties:
1. Develops and implements policies, plans and programs for the site's manufacturing function within the framework and support of overall company goals and priorities, through direct plant and some specific plant to plant support operations accountability in mixing, milling, preforming, compression, transfer and vertical and horizontal injection molding strategies of the company. Also includes plant level accountability for supporting corporate goals in safety, quality, cost, environmental, employee motivation and customer satisfaction.

2. Manages compliance with all safety/environmental rules and regulations and to take prompt corrective action concerning hazards. Permanent Safety Committee Member. Reviews Internal Safety/Environmental Audits.

3. Manages and participates in various company and plant (Continuous Improvement) Programs to enhance the process and develop employees in continuous improvement. Ensures that ISO/TS16949 (QS9000), ISO 140001, or equivalent standards are met.

4. Participates in a variety of human resource management responsibilities including
- Recruiting, selecting and training employees
- Evaluating work performance
- Recommending compensation adjustments
- Professional Development planning
- Performance Objectives planning
- Labor and employee relations
- Monthly Committee Meetings

5. Manages Manufacturing and Process Engineering activities for the reduction of manufacturing costs, scrap and rework to maximize manufacturing profits.

6. Utilizes effectively all appropriate control records and financial statements such as budgets, cost estimates, staffing and facilities forecasts, and labor cost analyses to manage operations and achieve optimal results.

7. Promotes effective labor relations to develop and maintain a working partnership promoting maximum productivity, efficiency and employee satisfaction. Participates directly in contract negotiations and manages contract administration with the assistance of the plant Human Resources office.

8. Directs and oversees the maintenance of facilities and equipment to assure safe and efficient performance and usability, and to provide clean, safe and attractive facilities conducive to maximum employee productivity, efficiency and morale.

9. Oversees and directs the timely and economical purchasing and receipt of material, supplies and equipment.

10. Performs other duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.

Relationship to Others: Supervision of plant management staff. Communications with Union Representatives on various issues. Works with sales management to maximize positive customer relationships. Actively collaborates with various plant and corporate staff on key initiatives.

Dimensions of Position: Approximate staffing: A. Exempt = 22, B. Non-Exempt = 7, C. Hourly = 154. Approximate Sales Revenues of : $25,000,000. Manages a plant that is the largest physical manufacturing facility in the company. This plant is a focused factory specializing in mixing, as well as injection (horizontal and vertical), transfer and compression molded custom parts (many with inserts), and is transitioning to become more of a vertical injection and horizontal injection molding facility with the capacity for assemblies as required. This requires some contact with customer engineering, quality, purchasing and manufacturing functions, as well as proactive engagement in new product launch.


Background/Experience Preferred:
Education: Desirable to have Bachelor's Degree in Production Management, business or related fields, or equivalent experience.

Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of manufacturing experience in molded rubber products or similar production environment.
